Get A Lawyer For Free

If you are in need of some legal advice, this is your chance to get some legal help for free. The Young Lawyers Division of the Greensboro Bar Association is offering a free walk-in legal clinic.

You'll be able to meet with volunteer attorneys who will provide a brief consultation on a one-time basis and possible referrals for low-cost legal services.

The walk-in legal clinic will be held on Saturday, February 5, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Downtown Central Library.

The library is located at 219 North Church Street in Greensboro.

Afro-American Genealogy Workshop

 

 

February is Black History Month and to kick things off the Afro-American Genealogical Society Of North Carolina is hosting their 12th Annual Workshop "Our Stories: Our Families."

The workshop will focus on how to design your family tree, identifying your ancestors' slave owner, slave surnames and more.

This event will take place on Saturday, February 5, 2011 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Central Library on 219 North Church Street  in Greensboro.

Northern Middle School Launches Health & Wellness Program

 

Northern Middle School in Greensboro is getting in shape. The school received a $3,000 grant from the Southeast United Dairy Industry Association recently. School officials will launch a new health and wellness program called "Fuel Up to Play 60" during the school's Family Activity Night.

The programs' goal is to empower students to take charge of their personal wellness by exercising for 60 minutes each day and fueling up with nutrient-rich foods. Families will participate with students in physical activities, and sampling healthy foods.

Freedom To Lead Lunch Series

If your a leader or soon to be one at your workplace, here's a chance for you to enhance your leadership skills. Dr. Tomi Bryan will host a series of five workshops that will offer leaders new methods and strategies for breakthrough personal and organizational performance.

The workshops will be held every Thursday through May 12, 2011 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at The Undercurrent Restaurant. The restaurant is located at 327 Battleground Avenue in Greensboro. The cost is $375.

The Thursday Book Club Is Back

The Thursday Book Club Is Back

Back by popular demand The Women's Resource Center's Thursday's Book Club will begin Thursday, January 27, 2011. Local attorney Jackie Stanley will shares insights and benefits of journaling, reading and discussing books with other women. The Women's Resource Center has been tool to help women heal and empower themselves in what may seem like impossible situations.

The book club will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Women's Resource Center in Greensboro. The Resource Center is located at 618 Summit Avenue. Registration is required but childcare is not provided. The first book selection will be made at during this time.

WSJS Carrying NASCAR Radio In Triad

WSJS Carrying NASCAR Radio In Triad

  When the 53rd Annual Daytona 500 kicks off Sunday, February 20th, 600AM WSJS, often called The Triad’s NewsRadio, will become the home of "NASCAR Radio." The station will broadcast the entire season of Sprint Cup racing.   Races formerly heard on WTQR-FM along with shows like NASCAR "LIVE" and "Monday Morning Race Refresher" will be featured on WSJS as well.  WSJS has carried a few races through the Performance Racing Network since 2000, but this is the first time in station history that all NASCAR races will be aired on the 600AM channel.
