Afro-American Genealogy Workshop

 

 

February is Black History Month and to kick things off the Afro-American Genealogical Society Of North Carolina is hosting their 12th Annual Workshop "Our Stories: Our Families."

The workshop will focus on how to design your family tree, identifying your ancestors' slave owner, slave surnames and more.

This event will take place on Saturday, February 5, 2011 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Central Library on 219 North Church Street  in Greensboro.

The Thursday Book Club Is Back

The Thursday Book Club Is Back

Back by popular demand The Women's Resource Center's Thursday's Book Club will begin Thursday, January 27, 2011. Local attorney Jackie Stanley will shares insights and benefits of journaling, reading and discussing books with other women. The Women's Resource Center has been tool to help women heal and empower themselves in what may seem like impossible situations.

The book club will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Women's Resource Center in Greensboro. The Resource Center is located at 618 Summit Avenue. Registration is required but childcare is not provided. The first book selection will be made at during this time.
